Saint Luke’s Acknowledges Building Healthy Community Grantees

CLEVELAND, September 12, 2007 " At its annual meeting held Monday, September 10, The Saint Luke’s Foundation of Cleveland, Ohio formally acknowledged ten local initiatives awarded through a special 10th anniversary allocation designed to recognize programs and service enhancements focused on building healthy communities.

"In recognition of the Foundation’s 10th anniversary, our trustees earmarked $1 million to fund programs aimed at building healthy communities,"said Denise San Antonio Zeman, president and CEO of the Saint Luke’s Foundation. " We received more than 130 innovative responses to the 10th anniversary RFP, and we are thrilled to now publicly acknowledge ten programs that represent a diverse range of issues, size and project scope. Collectively," Ms. Zeman added, "these programs will truly go a long way toward transforming the health and well being of neighborhoods in Greater Cleveland."


The Foundation awarded special one-time 10th anniversary grants to the following:
Park Works$150,000for the Strengthening Neighborhoods Initiative
Joseph's Home$60,000for operating support
Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity$59,000for sponsorship of a Cleveland Habitat home and garages
Cuyahoga County$150,000for the Health Access Initiative/td>
Cuyahoga County Family-to-Family Administrator's Council $120,000for the Neighbor-to-Neighbor program
Hospice of the Western Reserve/Alzheimer’s Association of Cleveland$114,105for the Collaborative Demonstration Project to provide end-of-life education and support to persons with Alzheimer's and their caregivers
Recovery Resources $145,000for the Children of Alcoholics Outreach Program
Cleveland Housing Network$124,700for capacity building
Golden Age Centers of Greater Cleveland$124,336for the Greater Cleveland Evening Home Delivered Meal Program
Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center$33,136for the Communication Kiosks program

Grants awarded through this $1 million allocation are above and beyond the foundation’s regular grantmaking efforts for 2007.
