CHN’s specialty is analyzing neighborhoods that have potential for market recovery—then determining how best to stabilize and improve the area through targeted redevelopment, using a combination of for-sale and lease purchase models. We look for strategic markets with potential, strong community planning, wide support, natural and man-made assets.
We finance projects through a variety of sources including Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funds, local sources (e.g., Community Development Block Grants) and state subsidies.
Since 1981 CHN has sold 1,400 homes through market-rate and subsidized models that we have designed—customized specifically to meet the needs of the existing economic climate, housing market and need. Our current model is Opportunity Homes, a post-foreclosure neighborhood stabilization effort to address foreclosed, abandoned properties. This successful initiative has received national attention as one of a few successful models for addressing the vacant housing crisis faced by many cities.
Homebuyer education is a critical component in all of our efforts to ensure successful, long-term homeownership sustainability.
