"SECRETARY OF U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE MEETS WITH CHN's DIGITAL CONNECTORS"
.

(CLEVELAND, OH – July 9, 2003) – The Honorable Donald L. Evans, Secretary of U.S. Department of Commerce addressed an audience of over 200 on the topic of corporate stewardship and responsibility at the Cleveland City Club. This was his second visit to Cleveland and Cleveland Housing Network(CHN) was pleased to welcome and thank him for his wonderful support of Digital Connectors and CHN's Training & Technology Center.

CHN secured a prestigious, highly sought 3- year grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce. CHN was one of a select group of 25 successful awardees drawn from a national pool of 741 applicants. This useful grant matches every private dollar raised for the project with a dollar from the U.S. Department of Commerce, effectively doubling each grant received.

Established in March, 2002, the Community Training & Technology Center (CTTC) has quickly earned its place as the epicenter of the Cleveland Housing Network's (CHN) comprehensive approach to community and family development. The Center offers a strategic array of technology, money management, and homeownership training classes that together are helping to light a pathway out of poverty for low- income families in Cleveland. This Next Generation strategy is based on CHN's extensive experience in coupling affordable housing and homeownership options with comprehensive family support services and effective tools to promote lasting employment. Welfare reform and other tectonic shifts in urban policy have compelled creative new approaches to the old problems of poverty, underemployment, and financial insecurity. The Center has been strategically designed to work hand in hand with CHN's well-crafted housing programs to improve the prospects of Cleveland families.

The Center is located in a retrofitted 2,700 square foot former KeyBank branch, centrally located just east of downtown at the corner of E. 40 Street and St. Clair Avenue. To learn more about CHN's Community Training & Technology Center, please call, 216.881.8443 or visit www.chnnet.com/cttc
