Your rental payment history is a major factor in determining your eligibility to purchase, as well as your credit history and cash flow. You can start preparing to purchase your home at any time. Giving yourself more time to prepare will make the home buying process much easier. We would suggest starting with the Money Management
workshops to get your finances on track.

CHN will maintain close communication with you as you prepare to purchase and throughout the home buying process to ensure everything runs smoothly.
- 5 years prior to purchase
When you are 5 years away from purchasing your home, CHN will begin regularly contacting you to discuss your financial situation. Your lease will change to a 6-month lease, and you will be required to work with a homebuyer counselor to review your financial situation and prepare to purchase. You will review details including the purchase price of the home and payments. These communications will continue up until 1 year prior to purchase.
- 1 year prior to purchase
One year prior to purchasing your home, you will be transferred to our sales staff to help you understand the process and receive specific information on financing and payments based on eligibility. CHN may be able to provide some assistance.We are currently offering Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) to match your savings up to $4,000 to help with the purchase of your home.
- It’s time to buy your house!
CHN sales team will work with you on financing and purchase agreements. We will help you every step of the way, until the home is transferred into your name and even after if helpful.
