The Cleveland Housing Network has certified housing counselors to assist at-risk Ohio homeowners in avoiding foreclosure. Whether you are behind on your mortgage, foresee a future crisis, or are in the midst of foreclosure, we can help.

Services are free of charge, and counseling is available in-person or over the phone. If necessary we will intervene with lenders and banks, refer you to legal or other assistance, or we may be able to provide financial assistance to eligible homeowners.

If you had a mortgage loan on your primary residence and believe you were financially harmed during the mortgage foreclosure process, you can request an Independent Foreclosure Review and potentially receive compensation. CHN can assist you with completing and filing your Request for Review form and respond to any questions or concerns you may have about the process. 2. Fill out the Foreclosure Prevention application.
Bring the completed application and required documents to your orientation session.

Once you’ve attended orientation and submitted documents, you will meet privately with a housing counselor who will analyze your finances, determine how much you can afford in mortgage payments, and notify the mortgage company that we are assisting you. Your counselor will work with you and the lender, for as long as it takes, to achieve the best possible outcome for your situation.
