Energy saving tips
Reduce utility bills, become more energy efficient and go green with these helpful tips for your home!
- Check the furnace filter once a month and change if dirty. A dirty filter can reduce the efficiency of your furnace and reduce its life.
- Check your chimney for signs of moisture or decay. Check to see that the fuel pipes are securely attached to the chimney.
- Have a licensed and insured heating contractor perform an annual safety inspection on your furnace.
- Do not block or close any heating registers, air supply or return vents on your furnace. This can affect heating system efficiency and comfort.
- Do not use your cook-stove to heat your home. It is not designed to heat the home and could cause carbon monoxide poisoning.
- Vent bathroom fans, kitchen fans and the clothes dryer to the outside.
- Check the attic for water leaks during rain and cold.
