The mission of the Cleveland Housing Network is to generate hope and healthy market forces in Cleveland’s aging neighborhoods, pave powerful pathways out of poverty for very low-income families and assist low to moderate income working families build wealth and self-determination. In partnership with our 23 member community development corporations, CHN implements a strategic set of programs and services to accomplish its mission, primarily the large-scale production of superior quality, affordable homes and the provision of a broad array of training and counseling services that enable families to escape poverty, build wealth, and become homeowners.
Since 1981, we have been making a difference in Cleveland by:
Assisting families achieve the dream of homeownership by developing 2,400 quality homes through our nationally modeled Lease Purchase Program. Over 90% of all lease purchase families have taken title to their homes since 2003.
Developing 1,350 new construction and renovated homes sold to Cleveland buyers with the best mortgage packages available in the region.
Narrowing the digital divide by providing computer-training courses to over 2,200 residents at CHN's Community Training and Technology Center.
Hiring minority and female businesses at a rate of 50%.
Helping 700 families obtain employment and leave public assistance.
Providing a fresh start for 300 formerly homeless families through affordable homes, employment and supportive services.
Keeping low-income Cleveland families warm and safe by conducting over 71,000 energy conservation and home repair jobs.
